چکیده

We calculate the self-energy of two-dimensional fermions that are coupled to transverse gauge fields, taking two-loop corrections into account. Given a bare gauge field propagator that diverges for small momentum transfers q as 1/q , 1 < η ≤ 2, the fermionic self-energy without vertex corrections vanishes for small frequencies ω as Σ(ω) ∝ ω with γ = 2 1+η < 1. We show that inclusion of the leading radiative correction to the fermion gauge field vertex leads to Σ(ω) ∝ ω [1 − aη ln(ω0/ω)], where aη is a positive numerical constant and ω0 is some finite energy scale. The negative logarithmic correction is consistent with the scenario that higher order vertex corrections push the exponent γ to larger values.

Quantum Boltzmann equation study for the Kondo breakdown quantum critical point.

We develop the quantum Boltzmann equation approach for the Kondo breakdown quantum critical point, involved with two bands for conduction electrons and localized fermions. Particularly, the role of vertex corrections in transport is addressed, crucial for non-Fermi liquid transport with temperature linear dependence. Only one band of spinons may be considered for scattering with gauge fluctuati...

Bosonization and Duality in Condensed Matter Systems

We show that abelian bosonization of 1+1 dimensional fermion systems can be interpreted as duality transformation and, as a conseguence, it can be generalized to arbitrary dimensions in terms of gauge forms of rank d − 1, where d is the dimension of the space. This permit to treat condensed matter systems in d > 1 as gauge theories. Furthermore we show that in the “scaling” limit the bosonized ...

Electron-electron interactions and two-dimensional-two-dimensional tunneling.

We derive and evaluate expressions for the dc tunneling conductance between interacting two-dimensional electron systems at non-zero temperature. The possibility of using the dependence of the tunneling conductance on voltage and temperature to determine the temperature-dependent electronelectron scattering rate at the Fermi energy is discussed. The finite electronic lifetime produced by electr...

Tunneling conductance between parallel two-dimensional electron systems.

We derive and evaluate expressions for the low temperature dc equilibrium tunneling conductance between parallel two-dimensional electron systems. Our theory is based on a linear-response formalism and on impurity-averaged perturbation theory. The disorder broadening of features in the dependence of tunneling conductance on sheet densities and in-plane magnetic field strengths is influenced bot...

Deviations from Fermi-liquid behavior in (2+1)-dimensional quantum electrodynamics and the normal phase of high-Tc superconductors.

We argue that the gauge-fermion interaction in multiflavour quantum electro-dynamics in (2 + 1)-dimensions is responsible for non-fermi liquid behaviour in the infrared, in the sense of leading to the existence of a non-trivial (quasi) fixed point that lies between the trivial fixed point (at infinite momenta) and the region where dynamical symmetry breaking and mass generation occurs. This qua...
